Lovebirds

By Adriannă Sapphirë

I took a photo of these two lovebirds while at the Sanctuary a couple of years ago during Art drop-in. I remember being determined to get the perfect shot of them that day.

Out of all the different types of hate that I have experienced
in such little time in my long yet short life
is the turmoil that happens to haunt me in my nightmares
and within my happiest dreams

What left the hole in my heart
that 'hate' has me to sit with
to suffer alone in, over all,
a deafening silence everyday

I wake up when I do manage to get a few hours of sleep
I, with every fiber of my being, hate that hate even exists at all
It escalated a sense of a loss of direction
and the ghosts of this place feed off of my only light
that keeps me alive, and smiling

I hate it, please help me escape
