A Season of Transition

After 18 years in leadership at Sanctuary, including the last eight as our Executive Director, Alan has chosen to temporarily step down from his role effective November 1st and is taking time and space to re-evaluate his formal leadership role in our community. In light of this decision, the Board has begun a process of determining the leadership needs of Sanctuary going forward. For the time being, they have appointed Thea Prescod as our Interim Executive Director and she will be filling that role at least until July 2022.

Thea's name will be familiar to many who have known Sanctuary through the years. A member of the Sanctuary community for more than 20 years and a part of our staff team for almost 19 years, Thea's smiling face, infectious laugh and big heart are cherished throughout our community.

Please join us in welcoming Thea into this new role, praying for her and supporting her in whatever ways you can. Pray too for Alan as he enters a season of reflection on what might be next in store for him. He will continue to be at Sanctuary through the end of this year, supporting Thea as she transitions into this role, and this will be followed up with a sabbatical for Alan from January to June of 2022. During that time, Alan will discern whether his next steps are at Sanctuary, and whether they involve him returning to us in some sort of leadership role.
