Rica, a Filipino-Canadian, has a natural inclination for building connections with people. Her family immigrated to Canada in 2004. Rica, an experienced and dedicated community worker, has served as a compassionate camp counsellor in Canada and a devoted drop-in centre worker in the Philippines. She has extensive experience in community engagement and has worked with children and teens who were street-involved in Cebu, Philippines. Her enthusiasm and positivity towards community-building have made her a valuable asset to Sanctuary, where she joined in April 2023. Rica loves spending time with community members during drop-ins and connecting with donors and community friends.
As a queer woman of faith and someone who lives with ADHD, Rica has a keen interest in discussing topics related to mental health, faith, and the LGBTQ+ community. She is always eager to engage in meaningful conversations on these topics.
Rica has an eclectic range of hobbies that reflect her adventurous spirit and love for nature. She enjoys fishing, DIY projects, and exploring the outdoors through nature walks. Rica also finds pleasure in watching documentaries, going on long drives around small-town Ontario, and taking care of her two Holland lop bunnies, Honey and Butter. As an aviation enthusiast, she loves to share her passion for flying by taking friends on thrilling adventures up in the air.
