Dr. Sylvia C. Keesmaat is biblical scholar who has taught at Oxford University, Tyndale University, the Institute for Christian Studies, and Wycliffe and Trinity Colleges, University of Toronto. Sylvia teaches and writes on issues connected to economic and climate justice in the biblical story and is the author of Colossians Remixed: Subverting the Empire and Romans Disarmed: Resisting Empire, Demanding Justice (both with Brian Walsh).
She has been deeply involved in communities with the homeless both in Oxford and at The Common Table at Church of the Redeemer in Toronto. Sylvia currently teaches for Bible Remixed (www.bibleremixed.ca), which she founded in 2021.
