Tanja is a registered nurse in the community at Sanctuary. Before she joined Sanctuary in 2012, she worked in emergency medicine, trauma/forensics and internationally mostly focusing in sexual and gender based violence. She loves her work here as it draws in many aspects of areas she previously worked in, but especially values how the relational aspect of nursing care and connecting to community members outside of only clinic interactions has made the connections she has in the community much stronger and improved the care she can offer. Her favourite things to do in the clinic have to do with pus and foot care. Outside her time at Sanctuary, she lives on an organic potato farm, and fills her time with her farmer and many small humans that like to explore, forage and go on adventures.
